Cache #29: Geocacher's Aviary

Probably breaking a rule with that picture, but that's so cute that I don't care.  Anyway, Rei and I went over to the Severn Run Natural Area for some caching, which I had been to before with Overbeard.  Some new targets to find though~  After our first pass at another cache stumped us, we wandered out way off the trail to this area.  The walking was much easier than the first cache, but it was getting dark and stuff kept smacking me in the face.

Compass lead us around in circle a bit, and I admittedly kept looking at my feet too much.  Also kept looking for a pine tree as the hint was "Evergreen"  Totally forgot about Holly.  As soon as I spotted something odd in the one tree, I knew that was the mark.

Tried going a bit deeper after another cache, but it just took us down a wooded hill to a sort of dead end, still ~1000ft from the cache.  I didn't want to bushwhack that late, so we doubled back and headed to the first cache we passed by.  And I'm glad we did!  As soon as we got back to the main trail, Rei and I were greeted with a sizable group of fireflies flitting around.  It was quite something, I haven't seen them hanging around my neighborhood for years.
